1-Base Agua @en

Water-based water repellent

Invisible hydrophobic treatment designed to provide long lasting protection against water and moisture penetration. Its formulation based on silanes and modified siloxanes, protects the treated surfaces by acting as an impregnation with a strong water repellent effect that repels water, preventing the penetration of rainwater and allowing the breathability of water vapor, waterproofing the facades while maintaining their natural appearance.

Advantage:
  • Does not change the appearance
  • Ready to use
  • Easy to use
  • Fast drying
  • High penetration
  • Low odor

Modo de empleo :

⇒ Previous Considerations

Surfaces must be clean and dry, free of rust, dust, grease, saltpetre, humidity, etc.

It is advisable to cover in its totality the support just treated, to protect from the rain, in order to obtain the complete development of the properties of the product.

Do not apply on non-porous surfaces.

Product cannot be repainted.

⇒ Instructions for use
New surfaces

Cement and concrete
It is recommended to wait until the concrete has completely set (30 days) and to remove the release agents, if any.

Once the support is clean and dry, and free of dust, grease, saltpeter, humidity, etc., the application is made with the product in use, without diluting. The application method will depend on the area to be treated:

Brush: apply in uniform movements covering the entire surface. Ideal for details or small/medium areas.

Roller: for large surfaces, apply in uniform passes without overloading it.

Sprayer: for large surfaces (allows faster work), adjust pressure and nozzle as needed.

It is generally recommended to apply 2 coats for optimum protection, and wait approximately 2 to 4 hours between coats. On very porous stones/surfaces it may be necessary to apply a third coat.

It is advisable to pre-test small areas to determine the optimum amount and to ensure uniform coverage.

Construction materials
Brick, natural stone and other porous materials.

Once the substrate has been properly treated, and is clean and dry, and free of dust, grease, saltpetre, humidity, etc., the application is carried out with the product in use, without diluting. The application method will depend on the area to be treated:

Brush: apply in uniform movements covering the entire surface. Ideal for details or small/medium areas.

Old surfaces

On moldy surfaces
They must be removed and sanitized, with bleach or specific products, such as Jafep Moisture Stain Cleaner and rinsing afterwards. Painting without properly treating this problem will cause its reappearance. It is essential that the substrate is completely clean, dry and sanitized before application.

Once the substrate has been correctly treated, the application is carried out with the product in use, without dilution. The application method will depend on the area to be treated:

Brush: apply in uniform movements covering the entire surface. Ideal for details or small/medium areas.

Roller: for large surfaces, apply in uniform passes without overloading it.

On surfaces with saltpeter
Scraping and chemically treating with anti-saltpeter products (hydrochloric acid), such as Salfumán Jafep and rinsing afterwards. Painting without properly treating this problem will cause it to reappear. It is important to let the surface dry completely, preferably for several days, to verify that the saltpeter does not reappear after cleaning.

Quick guide to pathologies and their pretreatment
Pathology
Cause / Appearance
Recommended pretreatment
Recommended prevention
Moisture by capillarity Moisture rising from the ground; persistent stains in the lower part of the facing Cut capillarity (chemical or physical barrier). Ensure drains and baseboard ventilation
Surface contamination Traces of dust, grease, smoke, environmental contamination Cleaning with pressurized water, neutral detergents, degreasing agents if necessary. Regular cleaning
Alkalinity New substrates with excess free lime (cement/concrete); risk of effervescence. Allow to cure for at least 28 days, wash with water or mild acid solution( dilutedJafep salfumán ). Respect curing times, use compatible fixative base coats.
Biodeterioration (mold, algae, fungi) Black, greenish or reddish stains; biological proliferation Wash with water + Jafep damp stain cleaner, leave to act and remove.
Saline efflorescence Whitish stains (salts) on mineral substrates due to humidity. Brush, wash with fresh water, let dry well before painting. Avoid painting with residual humidity, seal joints well and use water-based water repellent.
Unidentifiable aged paint Old paint that is not known if it is acrylic, siloxane, silicate… Due to the risk of incompatibility or bad anchorage, adhesion test or even complete removal is recommended.

Propiedades:

The application of the water repellent to water on the appropriate surfaces forms an invisible, waterproof barrier with a high water repellent power, which repels water without altering the breathability of the treated material or surface. This allows water vapor to escape easily, reducing problems such as internal moisture accumulation or efflorescence formation.

Deep penetration into the pores of the material reduces dirt access and ensures long-lasting protection that can extend up to several years with proper maintenance.

Precauciones:
Product ready to use, do not dilute.
Stir the contents vigorously until completely homogenized.
Do not apply if rain or frost is expected during or in the days following application, or if humidity is above 80%.
