Pinturas Jafep donates paint for the Work of St. John of God in Valencia

Four sheltered apartments will be refurbished thanks to the donation of paint by the company “Pinturas Jafep” to the Obra Social de San Juan de Dios.

On the morning of February 23rd, the San Juan de Dios Shelter in Valencia hosted the ceremony for the delivery of the paint that will be used to adapt the four apartments that this social entity has for housing homeless people.

The event is part of the social commitment policy that Pinturas Jafep has maintained for some time, carrying out actions in different locations with the aim of collaborating with different social entities.

Pinturas Jafep wanted the Obra Social de San Juan de Dios to be the recipient of this donation, given the important role it has played in recent years in caring for people and families who for one reason or another have been without a roof under which to shelter.

Precisely in 2015, this social entity has received important awards in our country, such as the Princess of Asturias Award for Concord and the Manuel Broseta Foundation’s Convivencia Award.

The donation of paint will allow the adaptation of four insertion housing units with capacity for 16 people. The objective of these homes is to offer temporary housing where users can achieve autonomy and personal stability, in order to be able to lead a stable life project. In these homes, the operation and management of the housing as well as the coexistence are supervised through group meetings for conflict management.

With this type of social actions, the paint industry located in La Roda de Albacete and with presence in different countries in Europe, Africa and America, aims to collaborate in the achievement of social equality by working with social entities of proven value.

“It is difficult to describe what we experienced this morning at the San Juan de Dios hostel in Valencia.”

When you walk down the street and find a person sleeping on a bench, you can: not feel anything, ignore it or, at best, think why this is allowed. Well, I can assure you that all that has changed for me today. First of all, I have seen how the fatalities of life can lead a normal person to stay on the street, but also how there are people who take care of them. There are extraordinary people like Isabel and Rosa, from the Obra Social de San Juan de Dios, who are working to help them find a home again, to help them find themselves again and to help them love and value themselves again.

Today Paco has been with us. Paco is a hard-working “uncle” to whom life has been putting obstacles in his way until he was left without his apartment and without his house, alone and in the street. If you ask him what the shelter is for him, he says: “A balm”. A few years ago Paco didn’t even know that places like this existed, nor did he even think about it. Today he is one of the veterans and can’t wait to paint his apartment where he lives with four other companions. He has assured us that he will send us photos of the before and after because he says that the apartment is in great color and needs a hand, so we are sure that soon we will see the transformation. Courage Paco, after this apartment you have three more to go!
