Considering performance when buying a paint can help us save time and money.
Every day is spreading the idea that the smartest thing to do is to buy cheap because as a general rule it is assumed that the manufacturer can always lower the price without lowering the quality.
Well, although it may seem impossible, it is very likely that by buying cheaper we actually pay more.
To demonstrate this, let’s do a small study based on the performance of two paints:
1.- On the one hand we have entered the website of a well known DIY chain where we can find 4 L. of paint for only 4.00€. with an approximate yield of 4-5 m² /l.
2.- On the other hand, from the Pinturas Jafep catalog, we chose an interior paint with an approximate yield of 13-14 m²/l and whose RRP in the market ranges between 19 and 21 €.
Let’s assume that we need to paint 112 m² of surface, which is in good condition and ready to paint.
- A) With the economic DIY paint we will need about 24 L to apply the first coat, and another 24 L to apply the second, so in total will be 48 L, at 1.00 € the liter, will make us a total of 48.00 €.
- B) However, if we opt for the paint catalog Pinturas Jafep, we will need 8 L. and we can forget about the second coat, because with such a high performance we can also deduct a coverage at least twice higher than the previous paint, so it will be a total of between 38 and 42 €. It is very important that not only we can save some money, but also save us a lot of time and inconvenience.
